I recently had the opportunity to spend quality time with some of my cousins.
We laughed.
We talked.
We shared stories.
Nothing extraordinary happened.
At least not on the surface.
But as I reflected on that time together, I realized something I hadn't expected.
I had missed this.
Not the conversation.
Not the occasion.
The sense of belonging.
Just days prior, I had a discussion about the direction of UP-LIFT.
Somewhere in that conversation, I heard something that stayed with me.
Community is important.
At the time, I agreed.
After spending time with my family, I understood.
There's something profoundly comforting about being with people who know pieces of your story. People who don't require you to perform, prove yourself, or explain every part of who you are.
You simply belong.
In a world that celebrates independence, I've come to appreciate interdependence.
Strength isn't always found in standing alone.
Sometimes it's found around a table.
On a porch.
During a phone call.
Or in the laughter of people who remind you where you've come from.
Maybe that's why community matters so much.
Not because it solves every problem.
But because it quietly reminds us that we don't have to carry life by ourselves.
The older I get, the more I realize that some of life's greatest gifts aren't things at all.
They're people.
And perhaps one of the greatest acts of stewardship is making room for them.
To those who have reminded me I don't have to walk alone...
Thank you for the journey.
Perhaps community isn't something we build.
Perhaps it's something we choose to become for one another.
Welcome to the Journey.

Our time together is always lovely and quite an experience. Love you baby Sis ❤️ 💙 💜
