The Stewardship of Silence

The unseen work matters too.
The unseen work matters too.

There is a difference between hiding and tending.

At first glance, they can look the same.

Both happen out of sight.

Both happen in quiet.

Both involve keeping something close.

But their purpose is completely different.

When we hide something, we keep it from being seen.

When we tend to something, we help it grow.

I've learned that not every dream needs to be announced the moment it is conceived.

Not every lesson needs to be shared while it is still being learned.

Not every decision requires explanation before it has been made.

Some things need time.

A gardener doesn't dig up a seed every morning to prove that it's growing.

They water it.

They protect it.

They trust the process taking place beneath the surface.

Yet many of us feel pressure to provide updates on every new idea, every goal, every possibility, and every shift in direction.

We are encouraged to announce, explain, and justify long before we are ready.

But some of the most important work of our lives happens in quiet places.

Not because we are hiding.

Because we are tending.

There are dreams that need nurturing.

Convictions that need strengthening.

Lessons that need living before they can be taught.

And seasons that need to be experienced before they can be explained.

Silence is not always fear.

Sometimes silence is wisdom.

Sometimes silence is stewardship.

Sometimes silence is love for something that is still growing.

Before you rush to share what is on your heart, ask yourself:

Am I hiding this?

Or am I tending to it?

Perhaps, the answer is found in silence.

Welcome to the Journey.
